Beautiful Art

Everywhere I go I’m always being told that I’m so beautiful, but then I’m asked “why do you wear so much makeup?” I have been told “makeup gives you pimples; you should stop wearing so much of it.” Or “aren’t you catfishing a guy with all that makeup?" Most people think that I want to hide my insecurities to try and get people, or boys, to like me. But that's not the case. I am a makeup artist; I enjoy putting on makeup and doing other people’s makeup, not only for the love of the art, but for the smiles and joy it puts on my clients' faces. I don’t have low self esteem. I find myself beautiful with and without makeup. In the few years that I’ve been doing this art, I have come to learn that with doing makeup you are going to get people who are opposed to it. So many people think that doing makeup for a living is not a "real" job. They will tell you everything in the world to make you go to college and work in the business world. I personally haven’t let those things and that negativity affect my future and my dream.
I saw a video on YouTube called “The Power of Makeup”; it explained something called Makeup Shaming, and how makeup lovers all around the world are being criticized for loving the art. These women and men have been told that they wouldn’t get anywhere doing makeup and they should just give up their dreams. They've also been told that makeup is only for people who are trying to hide who they are when really all they are doing is creating art. Makeup is an art, just like any other art. It involves colors, blending, brushes, different styles, and a canvas. The difference is that my canvas is not a sheet of paper; it's a living canvas!
I love what I do. I love makeup. I have nothing to hide because I love my face without makeup. I know that there are some girls out there who do believe that they can’t go out without makeup because they think they are ugly without it. To those girls, I just want to say that I strongly believe you are beautiful with or without makeup and when you start believing that you will come to see that you will be happier than you ever have been, because makeup isn’t something that you use to hide behind; it’s something you use to show your artistic side and to express yourself.
